Tekniska problem på Arlanda Airport

As of Saturday afternoon, the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration (LFV) said that all air traffic north of the southern city of Jönköping was grounded. "We currently have no prognosis for when it will be fixed but it will probably last at last an hour and it could very well be more than that," LFV's Roger Li said in a press statement at around 4.30pm. The technical error was discovered at 4.12pm in Arlanda's control centre, Li said. As of 5pm, the precise problem had not been identified. The problem caused a complete shutdown of the airspace north of Jönköping and planes that were already in the air when the error was discovered were "taken down in a controlled manner at the appropriate airport," Li said. "If they are close to the airport they are going to, there is a great chance that is where they will land. If they are far from the destination, they may need to leave the airspace and land at a different airport," he said. Travellers are advised to check the status of their flight on Swedavia's website.
